Had a bit of a rocky start to my morning, due to improperly setting the alarm and waking up 2 hours early by mistake, then accidentally hitting “snooze” instead of turning it off, so it went off all over again 9 minutes later LOL. Let me tell you, in the moment, it wasn’t funny AT ALL. BUT I left the house telling myself, it’s going to be fine. You’re going to head into work and have an okay day. And I did!
I would even go so far as to say it was a good day.
We were originally supposed to play DnD tonight: myself, my friend Barbara, and her friend Max. They both had a very rough time at work, however, and left it up to me to see whether or not I thought we should take the night off. My day definitely did improve over time, but I was still feeling a little crispy. So I voted to pick it back up next week.
Barbara said that if we weren’t playing, she’d feel obligated to do her dishes. So… I did mine too!!! YAY!!! It really helps to have Barbara cheer me on for all my essential adulting tasks. She’s an awesome friend.
Also cleaned the kitty food bowls and tidied up their eating area. I repurposed a box top as a tray for their bowls to hopefully keep spilled food off the floor and make for easier cleanup.
My neighbor gave me some chicken and rice soup and cookies today. And my mom bought me a rolling pin since I had borrowed hers to roll out the beignets. Earlier this week, my mom also picked me up some microwave popcorn since I had said I missed having some while watching Netflix. After all, Outer Banks goes better with some kind of (somewhat-healthy) snack.
I also finished a painting that’s somewhat supposed to be a portrait of my cats, though it’s a bit abstracted. And the coloring on one of the cats doesn’t do her justice. Her coat is so complex! She has flecks within her stripes. I missed the white around the tops of her eyes and the black stripes coming off the corners. She looks like she’s wearing a masquerade mask, in real life.
It’s still kind of a cute painting, though.

I also recently made a simple sketch in my Lora Zombie Sketchbook Challenge sketchbook, for the Draw What’s On Fire page (I reproduced the Elmo meme).
Next up is a page about what’s on top of the mountain. I was feelin’ the Dalai Lama for that one. Maybe tomorrow.
I’m anticipating receiving copies of the two anthologies in which my poetry recently appeared. I did get a small stipend from one of them, and they both offered either a preorder or a contributor discount, as well as free digital editions. So I feel okay about paying a little something for my copies.
The edition of SageWoman Magazine including one of my poems should be out soon, as well. I’m not sure if I will get a complimentary copy, or if I’ll have to order one. It would be worth it either way, I think.
We’re expecting some more rough weather tomorrow, so I may hunker down once more. Still stocked up and ready!
Lots of good things happening!!! So thankful for my neighbor, my family, and all my friends. And my coworkers! Lots of generosity around me.
Hope you are all well. Sending warm wishes. Have a good night, y’all!!!
