‘No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.” -Jim Morrison

To that, I would supplement the Wiccan adage, “An ye harm none, do what ye will.” My favorite variation on this is “Do no harm but take no sh*t.” One’s own pursuit of happiness and pleasure shouldn’t come at the expense of others.
There’s also a killer song “Wasting the Dawn” by the goth band The 69 Eyes that’s a reference to The Doors’ song containing the lyrics quoted above.
Speaking of all things 69 related, my collection of letters and reflective essays, Love and the Phantom Queen of Suburbia reached #69 out of 46K stories, in the category of Non-Fiction. I just noticed it this afternoon. Woohoo!!!
If I had to pick an additional runner up quote, I would go with a translation of Arthur Rimbaud’s poem, “Ordinary Nocturne,” specifically, “One breath dispels the limits of the hearth.” The whole poem is gorgeous; this line in particular reminded me that the wide world awaiting me wasn’t as inaccessible as it may have seemed, when I was a sheltered (but privileged) youth.
