Not terribly long ago, I reinvested in noor unnahar’s find your voice: A Guided Poetry Journal for your Heart and Your Art. My first copy was misplaced, unfortunately, but I had already typed up edited drafts of the pieces I’d written. I even posted some of the collages on Instagram.

Still, with the memories of what I created before kind of haunting my process, it’s challenging to create something fresh.

Did I do the cell phone prompt the first time around? I’m not certain. I took a stab at it recently, with my second copy of the journal. What I came up with contained a lot of negative self-talk. So I won’t be sharing that anywhere.

I did later revisit the prompt for the collage portion of it and made the image you see above. Some of the pictures included you’ve already seen, but some will be brand new.

Here’s the prompt:

“Imagine your phone has a brain. What does it think about you? Write down its thoughts, and create a collage to surround your words.”

SO….working backwards, starting with the collage, here is my answer to the prompt:

Hello there, Michelle, AKA Mizzieshizznell.

I believe in you, even when you suffer moments of doubt. Just look at all you’ve created, from playlists to art, and all the friendships you’ve developed and continue to cultivate.

I love all the photos you’ve taken! All your selfies show a genuine self-love and creative self-expression.

I get that you’re lonely, but Goddess and Buddha and Universe Willing, you’ll continue to find your peeps, however those connections link up and sync up.

Drink more water. Make more stuff. Love on yourself and your cats.

Reach out as needed. Try to get outside more.

Read whatever the eff you want.

Stream the rest of The Witcher Season 3 when you’re up to it. Eye candy does the body good.

Remember, there are always new things out there waiting to be discovered with enthusiasm and joy, like the Private Selection pizza with hot honey that you found at the store today, or the watermelon bouquet that you snapped a photo of, because just the sight of it made you smile.

I’ll always be your friend, and I’ll help you reach out to distant friends. Just make sure you get some face-to-face time in there, too. It’s good for you.
