Tomorrow marks the first day of fall! The equinox happens I believe at 2 AM-ish in the wee hours of tomorrow morning. I always reckon it’s not tomorrow until I’ve fallen asleep and woken up– so you can theoretically toy with the time/space continuum by pulling an all-nighter. Time is so relative anyway. Not that I plan to stay up that late. But still, it’s not tomorrow until the morning alarm goes off, in my book.
I’m dealing with the return of an ongoing medical issue. Sparing details, I’ve had some belly and back pain. Antibiotics should take care of the pain in a few days, they said, and I have some Tylenol until then.
I did actually manage the pizza zucchini boats I had mentioned in my last post. Here they are for proof!

That was part way through cooking; the grated parm came out a bit browner once they were done.
After that, I had not a spoon to spare, for those familiar with spoon theory. I was largely out of commission for a few days, just because I went to the store and made semi-homemade dinner.
I had enough to share some with my family, however, much to their delight. The boats even lasted a few days, since I’d bought 4 zucchini to make up. Halved, they each make 2 boats.
I’ve not been 100% faithful to careful eating since then, but I’m trying. I have been pretty good about prepping overnight oats in a single serving size and having those for breakfast, which at least sets a good foundation for the day. Tonight, I’ll also be having some for dinner. This morning, I had eggs, so it evens out.
I have so many story ideas on the backburner, but I feel pretty fried.
I did, however, manage some care tasks at home, with a little assistance. I also made a metric F***ton of phone calls to set up appointments, so I can take care of dental and vision stuff, etc., which I had put off for a very long time.
Are the readers among you familiar at all with Stuff Your Kindle Day? Free downloads a few times a year on Amazon, for e-books? I thought it was just one day every time, but apparently, many of the participating authors kept their books free for 3 days. Today’s the last day. It runs through 11:59 PM Pacific time.
You’ll have to forgive me. I had Love and the Phantom Queen of Suburbia free for a day and didn’t think to mention it here; nonetheless, I may run it free again, at some point.
Smoke & Crows is still releasing Friday, October 13th. I do plan to bump the price a smidge once it’s out of preorder, so if it looks like something you’d enjoy, consider ordering early.
Other than that, I’ve been trying to get into the Spooky Season spirit. I watched Practical Magic, the new(er) Bewitched movie with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell, Warm Bodies, and The Craft recently. Someone suggested Train to Busan to me. I watched the trailer tonight. It looks INTENSE!!!
Oh, and I treated myself to quite a few free e-books. I still haven’t read all the ones I downloaded LAST Stuff Your Kindle Day, but we’ll get there. Hopefully. As I think I have said before, an ambitious To-Be-Read pile is good for the soul.
I tend to waver back and forth between reading and streaming. I did read a teensy bit of one of my new downloads in the ER waiting room, but I’ve been more in movie mode than book mode. Which is okay. It took me a month or so to get through The Lost Apothecary, but it was a solidly good book. I just read romance and YA a lot faster lol.
I might work some more on clutter control tomorrow and hopefully perfect the placement of the little bits of Halloween decor I ordered from Michael’s.
Or, I might do some creating. Maybe a bit of both. We’ll see where the day takes me. I was fortunate enough to get a couple days off this weekend, which is a blessing. One of my coworkers even checked in on my first day off to see how I was feeling.
If you are a romance fan like me (even if I read other genres too from time to time), I suggest checking out the following link for a list of books that SHOULD still be free until 11:59 PM Pacific time, as Kindle downloads. Be sure to make sure they’re still free before buying.

ALSO… if you have Instagram, and you need some chill in your life, check out Yogi Bryan. I adore his content.
Happy Fall y’all! I’m off in search of some spooky entertainment for the evening.
