Yes, I am definitely more superstitious than the average bear. For instance, my neighbor offered to loan me Verity, before I knew what it was (a romantic thriller by Colleen Hoover). I eventually did some digging. I’d expected a fantasy based on the title, as if it were the name of a dragon or something, but no.
Later on, it appeared at the thrift store where I work. I sold it to someone. A day or two after that, I was at the library and found the above copy in the Lucky Day Collection. As in, you’re lucky you found one of their spare copies and can only check it out for 21 days (no renewing). After all THAT, I was pretty certain I was meant to read it. So, I checked it out, after breezing through several chapters at the library.
I’ve been really struggling lately. That’s why I haven’t been on here. But, this book, and a conversation with my daughter gave me an idea of where to take this blog next. In order for it to best serve my needs, I plan to focus on reasons to keep going. Maybe that’s almost the same thing as finding bright and sparkly things to be thankful for; maybe it’s a little more dire.
I need to find out how this book ends. Reading it to the end and getting it back to the library is a decent reason. And, the cat needs me, perhaps more than anyone else does at present. My parents already took in one of my two cats since they don’t always get along.
I also set myself a goal of reading 60 books this year. I suppose trying to make it across that finish line is a good reason, too. SO… today, I’m thankful for family, my pets, the library, and literature and the arts in general.
I also have an art show and a publishing opportunity I plan to submit to. Just gotta get organized and do it. Wish me luck!
