Daily writing prompt
What activities do you lose yourself in?

Lately, my main answer to this question would be meditation. I’m doing a 90 Day Meditation Challenge. 20 some odd days in. Today’s was a Death Meditation where you imagined your funeral and visited your deathbed and asked future you for advice. Future me said, “Do it all. Don’t be afraid” and, when asked about how to be more loving or bring more love into my life, “Open.”

I also lose myself in creativity. Costume making in October. Creative writing in any form. Journaling. Collage making and painting. Sketching, etc. Long walks, too, with or without music.

Last night found me very angry about losses past and present. People absent, for various reasons. I felt on the cusp of vowing like Maria Owens from the Practical Magic series to never love again. But the heart would never abide such a promise. And apparently my meditative deathbed self has other plans in store.

Memento Mori. Today, I’m grateful for every precious moment.
