Forever and always, my kiddo.

I’m so thankful that we’re still in touch over the distance, and that she keeps me looped into all the happenings in her life, large and small.

Last night, she sent me a pic of a very lively kind of hippie Hawaiian button down shirt she got from her boyfriend’s mom. Apparently, there are even some aliens hidden somewhere in the VERY colorful design, in between the abstract leaves and mushrooms and such LOL. So, I would say the alien birthday theme is off to a great start!

We talked as she drove to their mailbox last night, to retrieve her latest shipment of Mooncat nail polish. They seem like a pretty cool company! And they had a whole line of spacey/alien-y polishes, too!

A cursory Google search found a few alien eyeshadow palettes, too! Apparently Jeffree Star once had one, but that must be very old intel, because it’s not listed on his site anymore. But I found a cute one on etsy, and a Sheglam one that you can also get through Walmart (which might make me a little more comfortable, unless I did some research about the parent company… never heard of them before… though buying direct is a little cheaper).

Have y’all heard of Greta Van Fleet? I swear their vocals sound JUST LIKE Robert Plant with maybe a dash of Jack White a la The White Stripes. One of their songs just popped up in my playlist. Loving that!

If y’all have any additional ideas for fun alien gifties, let me know!

I just thought of those glow in the dark stars for your ceiling, but they rent, so that’s likely not feasible. Hm.

Planetary or star-shaped beaded curtains? Would she like something like that? I would, but maybe she wouldn’t. Or a tapestry for one of their walls, perhaps? That’s easy to put up and take down.

She left her Fox Mulder poster behind, so maybe another one of those? Dunno that I wanna part with it lol… the one he had in his office in The X-Files. I think it says “I want to believe.”

Which, I suppose, is kind of the theme of the moment. Will she be here soon in person? Will I find a way out of my empty nest phunk and move on? I want to believe.
