Would the day have gone better had I said “Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit” first thing upon waking on July 1st, or blown cinnamon into my door that morning? Who knows… but as it stands, I did not.

I’m still at home ill. I’ll try to keep this short so I can get back to resting. But there’s something I wanted to document for my own records. Figured mentioning it here makes sure it’s somewhere I won’t lose it, if that makes sense?

I went to Urgent Care yesterday to have them listen to my lungs. They’re clear. The cause of the wet cough seems to be sinus drainage. Oxygen absorption was pretty good. No fever. Healthy blood pressure, etc.

Still experiencing problems with my back, and they didn’t offer a muscle relaxer even though I asked if I could be given something for the pain. They just gave me exercises and a referral to physical therapy, which will start toward the end of this month.

However…not only was I still feeling unwell yesterday. I nearly choked to death on the way to the ER, as some particularly tough-cooked steak had gotten caught in my esophagus.

I was hoping to avoid going to the ER at all. Sometimes the motion of the car has settled this issue, or seemed to. So I asked, before I was actively choking, when I could just feel the meat caught in my chest, to be driven to the library to return my last checkout.

We did that, but the situation worsened. Eventually, we were stuck in traffic, with my mom driving and not remembering how to get there, and me suddenly actually choking.

It was painful and very, very scary.

But the meat came up.

We drove back to my parents’ house. There was a tiny bit still caught in the esophagus which I could eventually spit back out (I know, gross). At that point, I was able to swallow once more and had a glass of ice water. Then, I knew the danger had passed.

Since I hadn’t kept down most of my dinner, I picked up some BBQ Mac at Noodles and went home.

Side note, I also added toning shampoo to my hair yesterday before leaving the house, as I was rather scrungly, but I think I should’ve stuck to my standard moisturizing shampoo. The blonde is a shade ashier than I would prefer. I think I liked it better a little brighter. First world problems.

I have half a sandwich leftover from lunch for later but may need to strategize a bit more food for dinner, if not for tomorrow and Thursday.

Debating some Chinese takeout delivery or something, since I can usually stretch that into a few meals. We’ll see.

GRATITUDE LIST FOR TODAY:

  • Fun, new-to-me phone wallpapers from Pinterest to try
  • Having the luxury of time to rest, and read when I get too restless to nap, and plenty of books to catch up on
  • Help from my family, as I’ve been too ill and in too much pain to manage grocery store runs
  • The computer desktop wallpaper template I found on Canva and customized with pics from kiddo’s visit here, and some of my own adventures, in commemoration of SUMMER

Maybe closing out this post with a lucky rabbit will deter any more unpleasantness and bring back good health. Wishing you and myself all the luck with the rest of July, and the summer.
