WELL!!! I apparently hit the tipping point with recommendations and advertisements, because I finally tried the free-to-download Finch app yesterday. It is SO FUN!!! My “birb” (bird) Misty has already discovered a micro-pet egg. I picked a goal to focus on for I think like 7 days or so to hatch it. Since it’s something I sometimes forget or neglect, I picked “wash my face.”

This morning, I ticked off some goals and added some more goals, and did a breathing exercise, and did some journal reflection straight in the app.

We’ll see if it continues to intrigue me, but I’m off to a good start!

Also, I finished everything on yesterday’s checklist except loading the dishes. I still have some dishes in the sink to deal with. But my cough came back with a vengeance while I was doing everything else, so I didn’t push as hard as I might have otherwise.

I’m almost wondering if it’s allergies vs. a respiratory virus, since it’s been lingering for this long, without any symptoms to suggest something more serious.

I did used to get real bad seasonal allergies from dust and pollen and stuff in the spring/summer months, especially when we lived upstairs (before kiddo moved out), back when we had the OLD air conditioner (before they replaced it). Planning on looking into non-drowsy allergy stuff to see if it helps any. I gotta be able to function!

Also, the night before last, I had some water leaking from the ceiling and the exhaust fan in the bathroom. It happened around 10:30 PM. Heavy at first, kind of pouring out of the fan and dripping everywhere else in straight lines (like a line of water beads dripping steadily down). Slowed down, then stopped.

It was raining that night I think, but I’m on the first floor. So it’s likely not due to the roof. Waiting to hear back if they will want to look at anything here or not, since I imagine it could easily happen again. We’ll see.

OH and the cat and I have been successful in moving her “bathroom” into the back of the apartment. So far, so good. Right now, she’s just chillin.

Looking forward to maybe having a friend over after I do a bit more cleaning. She’s a lot of fun to be around but very meticulous about tidiness and cleanliness. Otherwise if nothing else, I can enjoy the cleaner apartment for myself. It does feel pretty good so far. And cleaning up the kitchen area is a great way to motivate myself to make something a bit more complex (and healthier) to eat, once I can stock up on groceries again.

Wiped down the kitchen counters this morning, and I had done the stovetop last night. And I actually looked at the remote for my AC unit yesterday. Discovered it already had batteries and just needed to be used once to sync it with the unit. Done and done.

Anyway yeah… the ad I saw that really brought me to critical mass to try Finch, they talked about being addicted to the dopamine rush of social media. The rewards you get for completing tasks within the Finch app gave them that same feeling while also helping them accomplish things in the real world.

So, maybe consider giving it a try?

You can even create custom goals, if the sample or suggested ones aren’t quite what you need, though some of them are really great! But I am planning on making some custom goals for bite-sized cleaning tasks to keep me motivated as I go. I am also using my care task magnets again. WOO!

Have a great day!
