I’ve been having the most convoluted dreams recently. Possibly due to my new antidepressant. Saw this quote, though it refers to the ambition kind of waking dreams, and it immediately kindled laughter. Tragic, that Mitch Hedberg died. He was so talented.
But I did mostly intend this post to inject a little bit of levity into the blog. I know kiddo says I often take things more seriously than necessary, or more so than is healthy. SO.
I woke up around 6:30 AM today. Managed the first part of my routine fairly easily, even if I didn’t get back to sleep as I would have liked. Logged into Finch, finished some morning goals. Then fatigue crept in. I longed for my bed in the worst way!
Lay back down only to have my back injury flare up every time I had to get up for whatever reason. So… pain finds me in the office chair, in front of the PC. The cat has abandoned me for now, which is okay, since she was parked in front of the keyboard.
In close imitation of ADHD culture, I have a bottle of water and some Sprite Zero Sugar Chill at the ready to my right. All I’m missing is the caffeinated beverage, since I already have one for hydration and one for pleasure.
Somehow, today’s going to be okay.
I did some gentle stretches. No pain there, surprisingly. Which was good!
Also did some breathing exercises to energize, and managed those with nary a cough. Head cold seems to be on its way out AT LONG LAST.
Listening to 90’s Rom Com tracks on Spotify.
I also got the most AMAZING ad in my inbox.
Are you familiar with the men’s soap brand Dr. Squatch? I’ve been a big fan for awhile. I don’t always want to smell like flowers or vanilla or what have you. Their cold brew soap was especially nice. Made the whole bathroom smell like a Starbucks.
Anyway… they have a FIGHT CLUB collab going on. Fight Scrub. Presumably not actually made from people. LOL. But it is bright neon pink.
Might have to check that out. I’m a sucker for really clever ad campaigns, and glitter, purple, rainbows, and things that glow in the dark.
Which reminds me of a million dollar idea I had many, many years ago… that thoroughly impressed the dude of the day, rest his soul.
Imagine condom wrappers that feature both glow in the dark and black light reactive components printed on them, so they’re visible in any environment. I feel like they would have done really well at raves and clubs.
Not that I have a ton of experience with either of those things. LOL. Closest I’ve ever been to a rave was listening to “The Sound Above My Hair” by Scooter. I have been to a few clubs, though.
Don’t know what I would have called them. Maybe they’re already a thing somewhere. But that was my idea.
Maybe the time has passed, and I’m too old for that kind of adventuring, but sometimes I think I’d like to experience some more outdoor music festival fun, like I did in my youth, with Lollapalooza.
If only I had known well enough to appreciate seeing Nick Cave live. Didn’t start to love him until I was older.
And I never made Ozzfest. Looks like that’s still an ongoing thing!
WOWZA!
Oooooh one of the songs from Practical Magic just popped up in the playlist.
SPOOKY SEASON IS COMING!!!
If it isn’t already here heh heh… I haven’t yet dropped by Michael’s, but I have heard TELL that there are decorative pumpkins aplenty and more.
Anyway… have a great day, whatever dreams may bring, waking or sleeping.
Would it be overkill to parse some kind of serious message out of the Hedberg quote? Probably LOL… but Imma do it anyway.
Maybe there’s something to be said for staying detached from outcome and allowing the universe to manifest your intentions. Not that you do nothing. Far from it. But you don’t fight against the current.
Maybe this doesn’t make sense in the abstract, but I read another great quote I think yesterday, in an Instagram post. Forget who the OP was.
Roughly, the idea: What we chase eludes us. What we try to escape pursues us. So that sweet spot for achieving your goals means neither running after nor running from.
Anyway. Nearly Spooky Season. WOOHOO!
