I did find slight variances of the quote I have in the first image; still, it seems fairly legit. Further research shows Thich Nhat Hanh spoke English and several other languages as well, though many of his books were written longhand in Vietnamese. So it is my best educated guess that the differences I found were related to translation issues, or multiple occasions of similar things having been written or said.

That quote, I found on a site all about mindfulness in the workplace and how healthy it is for productivity etc. Along with it, was a quote attributed to Buddha which I instantly found suspicious, especially after having debunked many of the Buddha quotes on the poster I’d gotten years ago at a Blockbuster.

The Buddha quote was even backed up by Goodreads!

But here it is in full, with its actual source.

Maybe it seems less impressive coming from Jack Kornfield, but it’s still a very mindful concept. I printed out an abbreviated version of the above quote for my wall, as part of an exercise in my DBT book, along with the quote in the first image. So we’re doin’ good on keeping up with DBT stuff.

There was another page in the workbook all about ways to make friends, and what you can do to help that process, which might be worth taking another look at. It caught my eye today, but I wasn’t sure if I knew what to say. How I would answer the prompts. I may think it over a bit more.

I had some unexpected stressors today, and my back is a little touchy. But I’m trying my best. I have some more goals for “housekeeping” care tasks that I want to try to get done before I hit the hay tonight. I am doing very well with many of my other daily goals, however, in the Finch app.

That’s most of what I have to report for today. Pretty chill day, relaxing at home, for the most part. I printed off a little something for the flip side of the Pride flag I made at the art gallery where my paintings were displayed, when I visited with my daughter. Added some bits from a magazine I got in the mail today, to my spiritual journal.

BUT here is the…

GRATITUDE LIST FOR TODAY

  • Having time off to recalibrate and relax, while still getting some necessary things done.
  • The morning messages and photos I got from kiddo today– lots of pictures of their cat. AW!
  • Sharing funny memes with friends. I got a great reaction from two of them, one yesterday and one today. Somewhere, I read that it’s called Pebbling, like how penguins give one another pebbles to show affection. Finding unique online treasures to share with your friends.
  • An interesting dream I had last night that I shared with a friend, trying to suss out what it might mean, if anything. Rising out of a bath, I saw my reflection, and there was a beautiful guy behind me, tattooed, dark-haired, I wanna say shoulder-length wavy hair. He didn’t speak a word and seemed to only exist in the mirror’s reflection, not within the room. Inwardly, something told me, “That is your depression.” Fascinating.
