I had a very eventful day yesterday. And a mini-adventure today, too.

So, so thankful for everything that transpired. It was a very fulfilling weekend.

Let’s begin with yesterday:

Treated myself to McDonald’s breakfast. One of their steak, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich meals, with unsweetened iced tea. Not the height of nutrition, but it was delicious. Stopped at my parents’ house to eat and visit the cat, since it was Black Cat Appreciation Day (and G-Dragon’s birthday, for any K-Pop fans).

Headed to a local indie bookstore for their romance event. As in, writing and reading it. Two local authors, a married couple who co-write their novels, gave a presentation on writing a romance. Very interesting stuff!

They had a copy of one of their books that they always have any attendees of their events sign, so we all got to do that. And we had the opportunity to share contact information if we wanted to get an invite to some sort of chat after the event was over.

Then we did romance trivia (there is so much I don’t know LOL… Some of the questions got very specific). I didn’t win a prize, but I did pick up a signed copy of a very tempting-looking book.

There were more events planned for later on that day, but I got restless after spending so long sitting down. So I went for a stroll up and down the street where the bookstore was. Considered looking for a restaurant there, but nothing appealed for lunch.

Headed home. Got caught in some heavy rain. Weather was WILD off and on all day yesterday. Fed the cat again. Went to the grocery store but still didn’t want to get a full haul, since I wasn’t planning on heading back home AGAIN before the night market.

So I picked up a Poke bowl and some plastic utensils and ate it in my car. Got a can of Poppi soda too. Quite refreshing.

Remembered the this-weekend-only special on Bath and Body Works hand and bar soaps, and drove there next. I picked up Candy Apple Cauldron for myself and something Cinnamon Pumpkin or other for my mom.

THEN I went downtown. More rain.

I was worried the event would be cancelled, but it wasn’t. Met up with my friend Neva just in time to help hold their canopy down. She was there with her mom.

I bought a necklace from Neva.

Later on, I had a smashburger from #getsmashed, and some fries.

We walked around and caught up. There was yarn-bombing on some of the trees and light poles in the park, and eventually hot air balloons, for a brief moment, before the wind got too intense again.

We made free s’mores and ate those, and watched fire spinners and the last few songs performed by the final band onstage.

I bought a gorgeous cupcake from a local bakery who had a booth there.

Tried to find where they were doing face painting since I really wanted a butterfly painted on my face, but I couldn’t find the booth.

Had fun investigating on my own, though.

There was also a funky sculpted tree made out of some kind of plastic or something that glowed after dark. I got a pic of me with the tree in daylight and just the tree by itself after dark.

The bridge was lit up beautifully, and the nearby former train depot-turned restaurant looked a bit spooky in the best way.

Got a can of Sparkling Ice before the event was over and had that toward the end. Then, after the music stopped for the night, I helped my friend and her mom bust down their canopy and pack up.

Drove home and stayed up for a bit online, and made that graphic of all yesterday’s adventure pics.

Now, I will confess, I had every intention of getting supplies to stay home and working on care tasks around here today, but then I got a phone call from my parents. They wanted to get ice cream out of town and drive along the bay on the way there, and would I like to come with?

I decided I’d go, even though I had only just woken up and barely had enough time to get ready to leave.

It was good I went, too, because I had a little cash left from what I’d set aside for the night market, and the ice cream place was cash only.

I ordered us all small cones, two dipped in chocolate and one plain for me. They were kind of expensive, but I didn’t think much of it. Then, the first cone was done…

That’s not even all of it. There was a bit more soft serve below that and THEN finally the cone. I hadn’t had any breakfast yet, so I was okay with eating that much, but there was a bit of a hullabaloo about the other two cones.

Eventually my dad insisted they give him one kids’ cone dipped in chocolate, that he could share with my mom, and we were just out the extra money. But he said they’d pay me back tomorrow.

By the time this had transpired, they’d finished one of the chocolate dipped cones, which he insisted on throwing away. So sad. But it was a LOT of soft serve for them. Neither of us had anticipated that kind of serving size.

Incidentally, we also saw some deer on the way up, along the side of the road, and then stopped at a campground on the bay on the way back.

Then, we headed back. I picked up my car and had my first real food of the day with my mom, from some of their leftovers from the night before. Gassed up the car, FINALLY got much-needed groceries (and trash bags), and headed home.

BOOM. Here we be. Back home, reflecting on all the experiences of the past two days, preserving them here for posterity.

Looking forward to more adventures in the coming days with Neva. She was thinking about going back to the beach, or else to the peninsula, on one of my upcoming days off.

Hopefully we can make Saturday work because Wednesday, I have more physical therapy.

I didn’t zoom in, which I probably should have, but here are the deer we saw:

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, my peeps!!!
