I still have one last wooden heart left I can paint. One of the ones with the black chalkboard look, and the white dashes around the edges. We’ll see if I get to that tonight?

I did, however, stay up VERY late last night, since I could rest today, and I painted, and blogged, and added to my ongoing work in progress, AND read some more of Lost Souls.

Haven and Jared now have more extensive backgrounds, and references to their families. And I happened to remember an edit I had made a note about for myself, then forgotten– that I wanted a small piece of dialogue replaced with narrative summary. It felt weird to have it word for word, when they were hearing it through a closed door, out in the hall, down a little ways. Maybe they would have heard it that clearly. Vampire hearing. Nonetheless, it didn’t feel natural.

I also gave Haven more physical description around the scenes where she and Jared and Dorian hit the town together.

I’ll admit, I may have gotten lazy about who was wearing what, after they all got onto the train. But I’m not sure how necessary it is to list ALL of that?! I did mention that Haven and Lenore had messy-bun updos and had chosen flavored lip balm instead of regular makeup, going for more of a comfortable than glamorous vibe. And Jared notices Lenore’s black yoga pants.

I lost track of time, having gone all the way back to the beginning of Mystery Train to fill in some more character background, etc. One could argue some of this should have come up already, but I think it’s okay to work it in now, now that everyone knows each other better.

This is a terrible thing to admit, but I think I heard the beginning of morning birds chirping before I strapped into my CPAP and prepared to sleep. Haven’t experienced that in years!

Fortunately, the full avian chorus wasn’t yet involved.

I can remember many mornings, driving home from a late night with the musician guy and his retinue, at a bar where he DJ’d, then tossing and turning because the birds were keeping me awake.

So totally not their fault. More mine, for staying out so late. He always tried to talk me into crashing on their couch, but I invariably refused. Probably very unwise of me. BUT I lived to tell the tale.

Here’s the rest of the hearts.

In other news, the car is now insured and ready to go!

YAAAAAAAAY!

I was trying to get an iPhone AUX cord, but the store I tried to do a pickup from, ran out.

I can still use the USB port connection, meanwhile, but it also charges my phone while it’s plugged in, and I don’t want to risk over-charging my phone.

So I’ll have to see what else I can do about that.

I had one, but it might have been misplaced in the shuffle of the old car having been emptied out before it was donated. I did at least find my earbuds, and the umbrella my daughter bought for me. Thought I had the AUX cord, too, but when I checked the bag I believed I had stashed it in, it wasn’t there. Just the earbuds, with their attached lightning jack adapter.

HOWEVER… I found a less expensive AUX cord, compatible with my phone, in PINK, online. It’s a cute shade of pink, too. HUZZAH!!!

I hadn’t actually driven anywhere yet today, and I went through my fresh fruit SO fast, I decided I may as well make an adventure of it. Pick up some fruits and fun things at the store. I also ate the last of my kiwis today. So I would have been TOTALLY out of fruit.

I’ve really been enjoying treating myself to fresh fruit, and the occasional salad of mixed greens and such. Also saved almost $20 tonight, on a grocery run that I think was just barely over $30. Dates were buy one get one. I haven’t had fresh dates in FOREVER!!! (insert lame wordplay about online romantic escapades here).

I also this time picked up the bigger pack of strawberries, which was on a DEEP discount, considering how many berries you get with it. And some blueberries, Cuties mandarin oranges, frozen DRAGON FRUIT slices (!!!), some inexpensive, pre-popped popcorn, generic baked beans to have with my burgers once I finally make them… and this!!!

I had wanted cake or a cupcake or something, in honor of it having been the birthday of William Joseph Martin, who had written Lost Souls some years back. Just a fun little something to celebrate, since I have been DEVOURING that novel over and over again. And it’s rainbow. And it’s very nearly Pride Month. AND Martin is also LGBTQIA+ like me! Just much more famous lol.

And the cake is SO so good! I’m not much for chocolate cake, but I think this one is just vanilla cake dyed rainbow colors, with chocolate frosting. The frosting, I don’t mind. Actually, it’s amazing. I just find most chocolate cake (except for German chocolate cake) a tad too bitter.

The cake was also half off. Outstanding.

I played some Spotify on the way to the store, and listened to my fave FM alternative station on the way home. Fun, fun!

So… happy birthday to all you fellow Geminis out there, and a happy early Pride Month!

We’ll see what other trouble I can get into tonight. I do have an early morning tomorrow. Online therapy a full hour and a half before my typical time slot with her. BUT… I can just roll out of bed for that. No need to get all elaborate about getting ready. As my nurse practitioner had said about one of our earlier online appointments, “You can do it in your jammies!”

It’ll be kinda like a sleepover, except she’ll be in her office, dressed professionally. LOL.

Again, I don’t drink, though I suppose one could stretch the imagination to make that non-alcoholic wine…but isn’t it a lovely photo? More of a romantic sleepover vibe than friendly girls’ night, but that’s okay. I loved the lights, etc.

I once had canopy netting around my bed. And at one point, a decorated bamboo curtain in the place of blinds, in my bedroom window. Not at the same time. I love switching up little things like that, and have gone through MANY looks.

Regardless, enjoy the rest of your evening, blanket fort, or no.

Or, if this finds you during the day, I hope you rested well.
