Which, as far as I am concerned, begins on September 1st, or as soon as the weather starts to turn cool. Whichever comes first. Followed by summer because my bday, kiddo’s bday, and my dad’s bday.
Speaking of spooky, my birthday’s on a Friday the 13th this year!
TWO DAYS AWAY BAYBEEE!!!

f you’re feeling spooky, you might want to check out “Hyacinth House,” though I would STRONGLY advise reading Wishful Sinful first. The longer sequel I’m working on now, as I have said, has adequate backstory to fill you in on the details of both preceding pieces, but I was much more concise with “Hyacinth House.”
It’s under 20,000 words (most novels are at least 50,000 or so, roughly).
BUT…. good, spoopy fun. And spicy!
As I have noted here, there are elements of tragedy toward the end, and not everyone gets a “Happily Ever After,” BUT… I am working on that, in Mystery Train. Vampires never say “die.” Unless they’re killing someone. Obvs.
If you loved The Lost Boys but would have shipped David and Michael (especially since there is a GIANT Jim Morrison poster in the cave, and cinematography juxtaposes Michael with a fade into Jim as the backdrop, hinting at his resemblance to Morrison)… with Star on the side or in the middle… this is for you.
Enough changes from the original characters to keep it interesting, but you’ll notice similarities in their appearance, in the case of Dorian, Jared, and Haven.
Pierce is slightly Marko-flavored. Spiral curls, and a much-decorated, prized jacket (only denim, rather than leather).
Erik is his own man. Maybe you could argue physical similarities to Dwayne, the hair, at least, but he’s much less quiet and brooding and much more in-your-face, charmingly-playful sleazeball. And I love him for it.
In other news, a Windows update sent my PC into spasms tonight. Thought she was dyin!!! I was so sad!!! But EVENTUALLY, after turning over many, many times and twitching her way through the last 10 percent of the update over and over again, she came back to life.
But think of it this way… picking up any of my fiction/poetry, or reading it through Kindle Unlimited, might help finance a new computer, to keep the creativity going. Or a plane ticket for kiddo to come visit. That would be good, too. Every little bit helps.
And you’d be supporting a proudly queer creator during Pride Month.
(On a less selfish note, I am also attempting a charity fundraiser on my Facebook profile for Point of Pride, so it’s not ALL about me. They are a great organization, among many, to support this month).

Old pic of me at Fright Fest, posing in a coffin, probably pretty exhausted, but trying to be a sport about it, cranky about wanting the photo to turn out nice LOL. I was dressed as a pirate, vaguely, which was probably more impressive under the jacket. Since it wasn’t a store-bought costume and was mostly my regular clothes adapted, they didn’t say anything. But evidently at least at that point, adults were banned from wearing costumes in the park. Maybe because they would look like employees and could thereby perpetrate bad things.
It was a good day. I remember walking through a “haunted house” which was more vaguely goth decor than scary, and noting they were playing an album I owned. Fun times!
Spooky times ahead!!! Still gotta order my wig and possibly different clothing for my Halloween 2025 costume. But at least I already have it planned!
