I’m reserving the right to wait to post more photos of me until I once again have clothes that fit properly… my swimsuit I wore to the beach recently is about right, but it was so WINDY on the beach, I had my jacked buttoned over it. And my trusty denim jacket is now WAY too big. And the only pics *I* have of me from that adventure are selfies I took sitting down. Not a very flattering posture. BUT…

THE NEWS!

I had noticed yesterday at the beach that I thought my legs looked a little different. Not as thick above the knee. More of a curve. Didn’t think a lot of it. More just kinda like, “Huh. Look at that.”

Decided to wear a pair of jeggings today that had been sitting in the closet for a bit. Cross between jeans and leggings, for the uninformed. So they’re supposed to be TIGHT. Comfortable, stretchy waist, but very slim to the legs.

They’re a size 16, and now fit like regular straight-leg jeans.

AND, with some extra time I had to spare, I tried on a smaller size of the t-shirt I had my eye on, at work, out of the most recent batch of graphic tees to arrive. I just had a feeling, because the t-shirt I was wearing in a 22/24 seemed a bit big.

The 18/20 fit.

I noticed it did show me muffin-topping over the top of my bra band, so I may have to loosen my bras, or pop the extenders back in, for a bit. But all the same. I will take it!

No idea what I weigh now, because I don’t own a scale, and only weigh in at the doctor’s office. But this is even closer to the size I was more than 10 years ago. Can I wear an 18/20 top and potentially 14 bottom in everything? Maybe, maybe not. But progress is progress.

Not that I have been uber careful with my diet the past 2 days. Yes, I had a side salad along with my bar food (more on that later), but I got a little fast food 2 nights in a row. So, I will definitely have to restock again, at the grocery store, ASAP. Not many options here. And no fruit or vegetables left, after all the stuff I had made, and my wild consumption of strawberries and blueberries.

Oh, a little onion. Which I suppose I could cook up with bacon and add to eggs? We’ll see. Maybe I will get imaginative tomorrow morning. Depends on how I feel. Today was a protein bar and toast kinda start to the day. Defs did NOT feel up to ANY food prep beyond that.

Other news…

Yesterday, I got out of town with friends. We went to the beach to escape the heat wave in the city. Almost 20 degrees cooler, and SO windy, as I said, that I had to wear my jacket buttoned up for warmth. At one point, I draped my towel over my legs. Had worn just a swimsuit and a flimsy cover-up.

BUT we had a great time talking and laughing, sitting in camping chairs on the sand. There were people swimming in spite of the chill, but I was not so brave. Tom forgot to bring an extra chair or any beach-y gear, so he left us at the beach and ran to Dollar General.

Came back with a camping chair that we discovered seats two! Intentionally. Two cup holders. One on either side. And legs in the middle as well as the outer edges. Everyone laughed at that, and Tom said he’d wondered why it felt so bulky and seemed a bit expensive.

Harley Davidson-licensed beach towel I have had FOREVER. Possibly since before moving to Wisconsin. Definitely since kiddo was much, much younger, as I have some old photos of me with the wings behind my back looking almost like angel wings, when the towel was hung on the shower rod.

Once I’d gotten to the point of wanting my legs covered, Neva suggested we go looking for somewhere indoors. At first, we tried the bar of a nearby haunted hotel, but it was closed.

Then, we drove around a bit, and found a parking spot for music in the park. Acoustic Mayhem, playing in a white-painted gazebo. We found a cozy spot in the sun, somewhat behind the band. Lots of fun cover songs. Either the wind had died down by then, or it was just the area past the lighthouse that was so windy. But it was much, much better.

Not necessarily Neva’s kind of music, she said, but I enjoyed it.

From there, we headed to a pub that we’d tried twice before and enjoyed.

OH… along the way , we’d seen a TON of vintage cars coming from the other direction. I’d said there must have been a car show. Turns out, I was right. We saw a poster for the car show in the pub. It had been in their parking lot. But we still saw probably most of the cars, as they were driving back.

When Tom accidentally got us all turned around, I even noticed a car with the Ghostbusters logo painted or stuck onto the driver’s side door. But that was somewhere else.

At the pub:

No “food porn” pics to share, but, I had Loaded Tots. Turned out by coincidence they were $1 off on Sundays. I got the Philly ones. Steak, green peppers, onions, cheese. Very good. And a side salad with ranch.

Tom ordered strawberry cheesecake chimis. They were small, but there were three of them, and he had just eaten a MASSIVE burger. He’s tall and pretty thin but always orders one of the biggest things on the menu. Not sure how he does it!

Anyhow, he offered to share, so Neva and I got to try some of that, too. A crispy tortilla dusted with powdered sugar, with cheesecake and strawberry filling. SO so good.

Then, we tried to stop at a park somewhere else, maybe for the sunset, but it was closed due to a cycling event taking place that day (as in bicycles).

So, we returned back to where we’d stashed our cars to carpool in Tom’s, and I headed home. I did decide that was the night I was destined to try the new McFlurry, however, and was undeterred by the fact that the McDonald’s app had signed me out.

It was underwhelming. I would have used marshmallow fluff. They used tiny freeze-dried-seeming marshmallows like you get in kids’ cereal. But at least I gave it a shot, before it left the menu. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by my occasional Ben and Jerry’s.

Today, I had a coworker say totally unprompted that she hoped I hadn’t been meditating in my car before I came inside. All kinds of heat advisories going on because of the heatwave. “Yes,” I said, “with the car off, and the windows closed.” OH she got so flustered with me, in her precious accent, telling me I could have gotten heatstroke. It was adorable.

I repeated this conversation to someone closing with me, later on, and they had the same reaction. They both said my name with such moral outrage! But it’s nice to be cared for. I guess I have a reputation there for meditating, sparkling, and buying darn near anything with butterflies on it.

We got out pretty fast, which is good, because there were some thunderstorms brewing. I got MOAR fast food, but like I said, I will be better tomorrow. Today, I just needed dinner quick and cheap. Which I guess is how those places stay in business. They were hoppin.

The car ahead of me snuck out of line and drove off without their food, but it was pretty busy, even with one car less. I was satisfied. Didn’t think the service was slow at all! They were very friendly and didn’t forget anything or mix up any part of my order. Might switch to that location.

So yeah. Now, I will have to reassess some of the other things I have on hold to potentially buy later, and see if I want THOSE smaller, too. TALK about your first world problems!!!

And I will have to try on my 18/20 black raincoat with the hot pink satin lining again. It was close to fitting the last time I gave it a whirl. We’ll see. Getting there.

Planning on trying to keep up the momentum. Yes, I get that McDonald’s is NOT the way to get there LOL… but I think once in awhile, I can “afford” it. Even if the doctors say ideally to avoid it completely. Any fast food.

WELL…

I guess one selfie from Sunday wouldn’t hurt. But bear in mind, VERY bulky jacket. Not that I should really feel the need to add that. I am still rather self-conscious, I guess. Maybe I always will be regardless of size, or maybe that’s just a whole separate issue to address, apart from my physical health.

My famous eyes. A cute girl in French class once said, “I love your eyes. They’re so whatever they are.” LOL. And a “player” called them “mesmerizing.” Eh, maybe that was just a line. But whatevs.

*I* like them. Colors shift, depending on my clothing and makeup. And probably also the lighting.

Still have to put the novelty pins back on that jacket, or figure out which ones are being swapped out. Finally washed it for maybe the first time EVER, and just couldn’t take off the heart pin I got from a blind bag of dice and pins one Valentine’s Day. I’d lost the backing and replaced it with one from an earring. Just wouldn’t budge. That one survived the wash.

“Actually, my job– it’s just beach.” — Ken, from the Barbie movie (which I thought was BRILLIANT)

If only!!! LOL.

But hey. Work was good today.

Gratuitous beach pic. I considered getting 30 seconds of waves again, a “Moment of Zen,” if you will, for those fans of The Daily Show, back in the day. But the wind was so strong, I imagine all you would have heard was cold air hitting the mic on my phone.

OH I am on the verge of having a biggish credit toward upgrading my phone to something much newer. That’s kinda exciting!!! AND that’s all I’ve got for updates for today. AND I really want to try and get through the end of my current e-book. Also have a library checkout I forgot about. Not as “fun” as the e-book. A reflective essay collection. But some intellectual challenge now and then could be good. I’ll try it and see.

Peace!
