Repeat photo, but that’s okay…

Before I go INTO the good news, let me add this:

I DID start my day with just buttered toast, with the VERY last of the strawberry preserves. BUT then I was SO ELATED at what happened next, that I powered through chopping up the last of the sweet onion and frying it up with some bacon.

Wasn’t paying as close attention as I should have been, but nothing burned, fortunately. Bacon just came out crispier than my norm (which was fine… nice change, actually), and the onion pieces caramelized. Actually maybe even MORE delicious that way.

Then, I whipped up a couple eggs to scramble on top of the onion, and threw all that together. Topped with Fire and Diablo sauce, and some pepper, and SHA-BAM! Breakfast for lunch was served.

THE NEWS… I got a text notification from Affirm that they were offering $125 off any flight financed with them, purchased through Expedia.

Having already had a dim notion of a fantasy-visit with kiddo if I were ever able to afford it, I began checking prices for the fall. Specifically, the end of October. I THINK you see where I’m going with this.

Every so often, we get snow on Halloween or thereabouts here. I hope Mother Nature isn’t feeling that feisty this time around, because I already cleared it with MY boss, and kiddo will request time off with hers, AND SHE IS COMING TO VISIT FOR HALLOWEEN!!! EEEP!!!

One week. Wednesday to Wednesday.

Booking all the way out to October, and flying on weekdays, seemed to have helped price-wise. I went with Delta flights which were a little more expensive, but we’re familiar with them. And kiddo likes them. I also tried to get longer layovers so she wouldn’t be rushed if any flights were delayed, and TRIED to make all her flights at reasonable times.

Really, it isn’t too much trouble to pick up my ONE AND ONLY CHILD at the airport after 10 PM, on a weekday. Apparently you can even park free, if your visitor comes directly out to the car, in the “cell phone lot” or something– where you park and stay in touch by cell about when they’re coming out. But we will likely pay to park so we can greet her with hugs as soon as she’s out of the gate.

Wednesdays are already outside my availability for work, so I will have her arrival and departure days covered automatically. And as I said, I checked in with my boss before buying the tickets.

I would do virtually ANYTHING to get to see her, so a little interest on a plane ticket, paid over time, isn’t much of a burden. I’ll have to get my credit back under control, and keep saving up, so we’ll have spending money for while she’s here.

But I did manage to save SOME, which I can apply to the ticket immediately, once the payment plan is finalized. It was approved, but I guess Expedia has some hoodoo to do, before the first charge drops, or what have you. Before I would have access to paying against it. Just to confirm the order?

Looking at the Affirm app, the first charge is scheduled for late July, one month from today.

OMFG this is so exciting!

She already has a costume in mind, that she’d thought of another year and just didn’t have the funds for (a female funky version of Mothman called “Ms. Moth”), and I just need to pick up the wig and clothing for mine (goth Rogue, from X-men). May hold off on the clothes to make sure they’re not too big by the time October rolls around. Oh, and I will need fresh dress-boots. Which I will NOT walk in, to the point of breaking the heel, like I did before. I will save them for special occasions. Like Halloween.

Halloween with kiddo.

You can’t get more special occasion than that.

Here she is when we went to Walgreens and visited our much-beloved cosmetics counter employee. That year, I think she was like a midnight deer? Something like that. Did her own makeup.

You COULD mistakenly think I taught her well, but honestly, she has watched many, many more beauty tutorials than I ever did, and likely taught herself a lot more than she learned just watching me, or having me do makeup for her.

And her nail care knowledge is out of this world.

Anyway. My kiddo.
