I had THOUGHT my mom’s appointment was in the morning, so I called her in the afternoon. Tried the house first. No answer. Tried her cell. She was still with the doctor, but said she’d call me back.
She later told me she hadn’t wanted to go to this appointment but was really glad she did. I guess whoever talked to my parents about my mom’s condition, they were very kind and super informative. She now has a much better understanding of what’s happening, and why it’s important for her to stay on her meds (she is notoriously anti-prescription, pro-alternative medicine).
So far, things look okay? They told her to keep up with her medication and come back for another evaluation in six months, but no stent needed at this time. I’m really relieved she’s agreeing to take the medication as prescribed, and the low-dose Aspirin.
And, we went out to lunch.
I had that Lavender Latte you see above, in a charming cafe attached to a gift shop. It’s a fun place. All the decor around the restaurant area is also for sale. We were seated in one of the staged rooms. For my meal, I had the Cranberry Chicken Melt. Description from the menu, which I just pulled up through Google:
Grilled chicken breast, Swiss cheese, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce and tomato on cranberry wild rice bread with honey mustard. Still have half the sandwich saved as leftovers, along with a lot of my chips.

In other news, I am going through old clothes.
As I have said, almost everything I own is now the wrong size. Too big.
Literal multiple full laundry baskets, all for one person.
Multiple baskets seemed reasonable when kiddo lived here, too, but yeah. It’s time to purge.
And buy less, in the future.
Also have all kinds of t-shirts from the romance book club I belonged to for a bit. I’m keeping the one I got around Spooky Season, that has a skeletal middle finger, with “I hope they have books in hell” printed around it. It’s black and beautiful and kinda goth. Very me.
My other romance book club shirts are going bye-bye. I’m sure someone will adore them.
Also, just got an alert on my phone about a severe thunderstorm expected to hit this area in an hour. My parents had planned on attending an outdoor concert that would be starting around then. I tried my mom’s cell and the home phone. No answer on either.
I’m guessing they may already be on their way to pick up a friend who was going to go with them. Hopefully, they call back. As much as I know my mom would be sad if ANOTHER of the concerts was cancelled (I think all but one was rained out), I would rather they be safe.
Fingers crossed.
Really gotta get back to sorting through my clothes. And I MAY also try to tackle the computer desk. I feel like an AWFUL lot of that could also just get thrown away. My lucky Buddha statue stuffed with fortune cookie fortunes can stay. But the rest is debatable.
Just figured an update was in order, and that after a VERY heavy post, it might be fun to share some food pics, AND my progress at home, for more motivation to keep going.
Have a great night! Be safe!
Cute Pexels photo, kinda about cleaning, for tax.
