The other day, I bought myself a Christmas Cactus, shown above. When I saw it at the store, amongst the others, this one was the only one with any open blooms. It looked the most thrilled to be alive out of all of them.

Now, having had it home for a few days, it’s covered in bright, festive blooms, its colors popping like fresh, wet pigments of paint. Just seeing it makes me feel so cheery and merry.

It’s an added responsibility, caring for plants, but I’m hopeful I can keep this one going. At the moment, I also have some very rangy succulents that look like you’d need a machete to trim them back, an African violet, and an adorable air plant, in the cutest little scarecrow-face-looking planter.

Today I am thankful not only for the welcome burst of color the Christmas Cactus brings to my space, but also for having somewhere warm to shelter, with all my basic needs met and then some, and for having the ability to buy and care for luxury items, like plants, and home décor, to help make my space my own.

I’m also thankful my therapist told me about K.C. Davis’s “Struggle Care” movement. I haven’t bought the book, but I’ve been following her on Instagram and have subscribed to her newsletter. If you have any difficulties with everyday household tasks or self-care, like I do, I highly recommend checking her out.

Last night I ordered a magnetic Room Reset board to help me track my To-Do’s and Done’s. I picked the one for kids since I preferred the more colorful pictures, then ordered some additional magnets from a different seller on etsy to add more tasks to the chart. Between the “older kid” and “younger kid” magnets, I should have quite a bit to work with!

I’ll be sure to show everything off once it arrives and let y’all know if the board helped me tame my living space and make it more functional for me.

Welcome to your new blog and new phase of nurturing and caring through your life! I put “How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing” on my reading list just now, so thank you so much for the recommendation. I look forward to seeing the magnet board. Love you!
