Stories (and Poetry and all the Arts) Matter

Stories (and Poetry and all the Arts) Matter
Daily writing prompt
What do you wish you could do more every day?

I wish I could spend more time creating; however, during an unplanned layover at the parental estate waiting for a borrowed car to return, I edited and added to some poetry. I’m planning on submitting to Dancing Girl Press once their reading period opens up again in June, to see if they’d be interested in a chapbook of some of my more recent pieces.

On the other hand, I have SO many short stories/novellas/who knows what, lingering on various backburners, bubbling over with anxious froth.

They are definitely worth returning to. There are even an additional two I’ve yet to start, but had kind of planned, one being a sequel to some saucy fanfic-adjacent vampire stuff I put on Wattpad. I flew through writing the first one, so I figured it might be fun to revisit those characters. It was a really energizing experience.

What’s stopping me? I’ve been feeling fairly crispy, mentally and physically. True, creating does pep me up and make me feel better in general about the state of my life etc. It still consumes energy, though.

I’d like to make more visual art, too, once again. I’m trying in small ways, having attempted a portrait of Persephone, the rough idea of which might outpace my present artistic skill-set. But I will pick up my brushes again.

I am hoping to try realigning my priorities once again to make more room in my schedule for artistic endeavors. There has to be a way. That, and proper rest.

Speaking of which… good night, y’all.
