SO… I got a little impulsive today. Browsed a big-box store with my mom after we had gone out to eat, her treat. I found the most BEAUTIFUL blankets while looking through bedding.

My thought process was that it would be lovely to surprise the visiting kiddo with fresh bedding– bedding which could become mine if I transitioned to single bedroom living later on.

Not that it’s a surprise to her anymore, since I told her all about it. LOL… but you get the idea.

The problem was, I’m waiting on a paycheck to drop tomorrow morning, and everything I was looking at later on from home (online) was showing low quantity.

I ordered using a credit service to pay $11 a month, starting in July. Had to add a book onto the order to make the minimum to use the service, but okay. The book looked really cool anyway.

They pull my order for pick-up, and everything looks great.

THEN I notice that I accidentally ordered the wrong size sheets.

I go back online to check stock and see there is literally one set left for a full size bed, in my area. Both locations. Only one set between them.

Sure, I could have just gone to the store tomorrow after work and hoped for the best, and paid upfront. That would have been the more responsible choice.

But no. I placed a second $11 a month order hoping they would pull that last remaining set of sheets first thing in the morning before anyone else had the chance to buy them. Teal Heather Jersey sheets, to go with the teal velvet-y quilt.

Had to order other things once more to get to the right total, but I found a cute accent rug that could cover up some wear to the carpeting, from where kiddo’s oversized chair was parked in front of her PC as she gamed.

And they had a deal on beauty products. My moisturizer is very old, and I’m out of proper face wash. Fixed that, and ordered hair color to re-blonde myself for my birthday. Nearly got a second book, but that seemed like a lot. I had enough in my cart to meet requirements without it, anyway.

All very impulsive and maybe unnecessary. But I did just cancel a book club membership that was almost double what I’ll be paying for these orders.

Sadly I found out since I paid with a third-party credit service, I have to return the wrong sheets by mail. Ick.

Maybe kiddo can help with that. As long as I know where they’re going, I guess the UPS store will do everything else? I’ll pay the return shipping, but she could help me get motivated to actually get there to do it. We’ll see.

Now the real trick will be just paying off these orders and leaving it at that.

But I am full of decor to the gills, so that shouldn’t be a problem. In fact, I have a framed print and kiddo’s diploma waiting to be put up.

Moving on… the rug!!!

It’s a cute lil accent rug that looks vaguely like distressed Persian. So I can reference The Big Lebowski and talk about how it really ties the room together.

I just feel a lil guilty for spending the money. But this way I can freshen up the space and not have to worry about the expense eating into the money I’ll use to entertain her while she’s here. And I have some bills looming, as well.

Anyone else a fan of Atticus poetry? There was one piece of his I came across online that hit me wrong for sure, but most if it I really love.

I got his LVOE Vol. II with the first order. Excited to see what I think of it. I didn’t even know he was up to volume two. Will have to look for volume one! That one, they didn’t have in store.

I really hope everything looks as nice together in the room as it does in my head, once I get it home. I was just so sick of the existing comforter. It was the last one kiddo picked out for herself, but it doesn’t match the tapestry and curtains I ordered when I decided on a “library” theme for her room.

Just for fun, here are some photos I took a while ago, or cropped screenshots of them, at any rate, of the bookshelf curtains and tapestry that I had ordered from Society6, just before she moved out.

I’m thinking I’ll switch things up and put the fantasy library theme in my room, if/when I downsize apartments. I guess I’ve had the psychedelic space cat and Buddha vibe going long enough.

Ditto on the new bedding. One side of my comforter has a bit of a “scar” anyway, where I stitched it back together after accidentally ripping it just after I put it on the bed the very first time. OY!

Fare thee well!
